Another Fishing Trip with No Fish

I woke up to the sound of pouring rain. I love the sound of rain first thing in the morning, so peaceful with its drumming on the windows and rooftop. My wife rolled over and said “are you seriously going fishing in this weather?!”

Well of course I’m going fishing! It doesn’t matter what the weather is like, it’s pretty much always beautiful on the boat. So I gathered up all the fishing gear and a couple of extra jackets, some foods and beverages and headed out to the truck.

fishing2 Another Fishing Trip with No FishBy the time I actually got around to hooking the boat up the weather had turned to just threatening to rain, so I gave the house a tip o’ the fishing hat and headed out to Lake Pleasant.

As is pretty much predictable if it is cold and almost rainy, there was A truck with a boat trailer in the parking area. The water was very nice; fewer boats means fewer waves and a lot more quiet. The rain came and went in little spatters, and I actually put the top up after a time hoping that would bring on the drops, but there was never enough rain to need it.

The fishing? Well, there were fish jumping all around us; jumping everywhere except on the hook. I made the rounds through everything in the tackle box and even tried out some anchovies, but no takers. The upside is I’m pretty sure there are more than one fish in the lake, although all I have as proof is me saying I saw them jumping.

No fish caught this trip, and I blame it on the cold weather. But as I mentioned earlier, it’s always beautiful on the boat!
